Where the Light Begins Festival, delivered by Hope on Prescription, was the first-ever poetry festival in Dartford. A powerful celebration of words, wellbeing and community connection. Bringing together artists, schools, health partners and local organisations, it was a true cross-sector collaboration built on the belief that hope and creativity belong to everyone. The festival supported community creating creativity, amplifying diverse voices and proving that when we write together, the light truly begins.
We’re so excited to announce the very first Hope on Prescriptions Open Mic Night.
📍 The Stage Door, Dartford, DA1 1BE
🕖 Tuesday 5th May - 8:00 PM start - Free Entry
This is a poetry-focused open mic, the performance slots are for poets only, but everyone is warmly invited to come along, watch, and soak it all in. Expect an evening of wondering words, exhilarating voices, and powerful storytelling, a space to discover new work, connect, and be moved.
Each poet will have a 10-minute set, with a short interval to pause and connect. And because it’s National Astronaut Day. We invite you to reach for the stars with your writing, explore space, the universe, distance, light… or whatever “space” means to you (completely optional, all themes welcome.)
Want to perform? Please email: info@hopeonprescription.co.uk
***Please note: performance slots are limited, so act fast!

We’re so excited to share this beautiful opportunity with you! As part of Dartford Pride 2026, Hope On Prescription is in collaboration with Dartford Pride, Dartford Borough Council and the Orchard West and we’re inviting YOU to submit a Pride-themed poem for the chance to have your words displayed across Dartford during Pride Week.
Just 8 poets will be selected and each will receive £45 for their work.
This is your moment to be seen, to be heard, and to celebrate identity, love, truth and pride through your words.
Send your poem to: info@hopeonprescription.co.uk
Whether you’re an experienced poet or just beginning your journey, your voice matters here. We would LOVE to read your work.
