Care Experienced adults writing for wellbeing workshops

Monday 3rd August - Monday 21st September

Monday 3rd August - Monday 21st September

Monday 3rd August - Monday 21st September

Across eight weeks, participants are invited to connect through words. Join us in a welcoming space to reflect, explore and express yourself through gentle creative writing sessions designed to support wellbeing, confidence and connection.

Participants will journey through a different theme each week, inspiring creative expression, imaginative play and hope. Together, we will create individual poems or spoken-word pieces and participants will be invited to perform their work at the Where the Light Begins Festival alongside internationally renowned poet Lemn Sissay. Participants poems will then go on to be published within the Hope On Prescription’s Poetry Anthology.

8 Week Programme at Sun Pier House

Monday 3rd August - Monday 21st September

Monday 3rd August - Monday 21st September

Participants will have the opportunity to meet Lemn Sissay on the day of the festival, where they can enjoy a relaxed conversation and a drink together. Spend time with a master of the spoken word. A former Chancellor of the University of Manchester, Official Poet of the London Olympics, Honorary Fellow of colleges at both Oxford and Cambridge, recipient of the 2024 Hay Festival Medal for Poetry, and a three-time Sunday Times bestselling author.

No previous writing or performance experience is required, just bring yourself. If you would like to attend the workshops but would prefer not to perform at the festival, that is absolutely fine. You are warmly encouraged to take part in the programme and, if you wish, join us as a member of the audience on the day of the festival. A Poetry and Music Festival where hearts gather and hope ignites.

Thank you to lemn sissay for supporting this project
